Applied Industrial Technologies Donates $100,000 in Supplies to the Hurricane Relief Effort

Through the efforts of teamwork and the desire to help make a difference, Applied is donating over $100,000 of safety and work supplies to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.  Michael Moonan, Regional Manager in Montgomery, Alabama, worked with the Alabama governor's office to arrange the donation of badly needed supplies.

At least twenty-five pallets of supplies and equipment in total are being shipped Monday, September 19, to Volunteer Mobile, the agency distributing our donation throughout the affected area.  Included in the shipment are assorted leather gloves, flashlights, tools, Kappler Tyvek suits, breathing masks, safety glasses, hand cleaner and more.

Dave Smith, Applied's Manager of Corporate Purchasing and Transportation Service, has secured Action Expediting, a local trucking firm, to help get the products delivered.  Action donated the truck and driver, and Applied is paying for the fuel.

Kent Garrard, Director of Inventory Asset Management, and Ken Wetterman, Return Center Manager, are responsible for organizing the donation and staging the shipment through our National Return Center in Elyria, OH.  “We’re very pleased we can be of assistance at this time of great need,” said Bill Purser, President & Chief Operating Officer for Applied.  “This is truly a team humanitarian effort.”
