Beginning in April 2005, there have been numerous instances of Applied Industrial Technologies “checks” being used in an attempt to procure funds via a lottery, inheritance, vehicle sale, loan or work-at-home scam. These are forgeries. The perpetrator uses the Internet or phone book for the initial contacts. Some phone conversations between perpetrators and victims have also occurred. Canada appears to be the originating location for these scams.
Should you receive a check from Applied Industrial Technologies and believe it is a forgery, please contact the Applied Industrial Technologies Internal Audit department at internalaudit@applied.com. Additionally, please forward the suspected bogus checks, corresponding notification and the envelope in which the check and notification arrived to:
